Well, here's the home page for the new house that I am having built.
When finished, my first home
will be an 1850 square foot single story home built by
Clark Wilson Homes.
|
A lot of people have been asking me questions about my house. So
I decided to put this page together. It will end up being a pretty nice
scrapbook.
I'll keep adding to it about once a month as I get more pictures
of the construction.
If you're looking at this and you are only mildly interested I'd check out
the time-lapse photos near the bottom of the page. They actually go
together pretty good and are kind of neat.
Where will it be?
The question I get asked most often is where the house will be. So to
answer your question... It will be in the
Lake Pointe
community in the west Austin hill country.
Check out the red star on the
map.
There is also a more
detailed map.
My new address will be:
|
2708 Andrea Ridge Cove
Austin, TX 78733

|
The community has some nice hill country views and even access to
Lake Austin. There is also 250 acres of nature preserve with hiking trails.
The trails run along a creek which empties into Lake Austin. The creek forms
some waterfalls which feel pretty good in the middle of summer. There are even
crawfish living in the creek.
I only have a few pictures of Lake Austin and the trails. When I took these it
hadn't rained for around 30 days, and we had had over two weeks straight of
100 degree plus temperatures with the usual 25-30% humidity. I think it was
107 the day I took these, so the creek is a little dry. Just your typical
Texas summer.
I'm going to try to go
hike the trails soon. I'll get some better pictures then
(if it ever rains again).
So here is what I have now:

though:

What will it look like?
Interior
It is a
three bedroom home. I am going to have french doors on the third bedroom so
it will be used as a study, though. It will also have two bathrooms,
a breakfast area, a dining room, living room, and a two car garage.
The dining and living rooms will both have 10 foot ceilings. The living room
has nice arched windows to go with the high ceilings.
Check out the floorplan. The master bedroom
will also have a bay window similar to the breakfast area. No, it won't have a
basement. The earth in central Texas is all limestone rock. So, it is near
impossible to put one in without paying big bucks.
Here are some pictures of a house with the same floorplan as mine. I'm
guessing it was
about 80 percent or so finished at the time. The lighting isn't too good so
some of the pictures look better than others. If you look at the
floorplan
while you are looking at these pictures
you can get a pretty good idea what you're looking at.

Exterior
The exterior will be a brown/tan brick on all four sides. The front of the
home will have a front porch which I'm having extended. Check out the
elevation. Here is a picture of a house of the same
elevation and is similar to mine (except mine will be be brick and have a little bigger front porch):

Lot
Here is what the lot looked like from across the culdesac
prior to construction:

When will it be finished?
The blueprints were finished and released to construction at the end of June.
The builder is averaging 150-180 days for their new housing starts.
As of my pre-sheetrock walk the builder is expecting that I will be able to
close sometime around Thanksgiving.
What stage is it in now?
I had my pre-sheetrock walk on September 15th. So we should be seeing some
of that work done soon.
There are some construction pictures below.
If you want to see how the construction has been going,
check out these
time-lapse photos:
